Today, we honor all those who serve and have served in the US Armed Forces. Approximately 18.5% of service members returning from Iraq or Afghanistan have Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) or depression. Approximately 50% of returning service members who need treatment for mental health conditions seek it, but only slightly more than half who receive treatment receive adequate care. (Source: MHA)
At Mental Health America of Greater Houston, our Veterans Behavioral Health Program strives to ensure that our veterans behavioral health needs are met. The mission of the program is to connect service members, veterans, and their families to local, state, and national resources. Visit our page to learn more and meet the team! A few of those who have participated in our programs have said, “I gained the ability to get my life back on track through the great education and mentorship programs provided” (Scott).
