Houston Hosts Collaborative Family Healthcare Association Conference

From October 19-21, the Collaborative Family Healthcare Association (CFHA) held its annual conference,“To Integration and Beyond: Creating Solutions for a Connected, Sustainable Future,” at the Royal Sonesta Houston Galleria.

Mental Health America of Greater Houston’s Chief Program Officer, Alejandra Posada, served as a conference co-chair, along with Nicole Lievsay of Community Health Choice, Dr. Stacy Ogbeide of UT Health San Antonio, and Dr. Lia Rodriguez of Texas Children’s Health Plan.

Over 500 individuals from across the country came to Houston to participate in this professional development and learning opportunity. Concurrent session presentations featured a number of Houston and Texas organizations, as well as organizations from across the country.

Dr. Neftali Serrano, CFHA’s Executive Director (pictured), opened the conference with a plenary presentation on “The Future of Integrated Care.” Dr. Len Nichols with the Center for Health Policy Research and Ethics at George Mason University provided an excellent plenary presentation on “Health Reform after the ACA.” The final plenary session used the “Shark Tank” format to educate the audience about rigorous research in integrated care in a fun, humorous fashion. Experienced researchers played the role of the “sharks” responding to pitches for research studies.

CFHA is a national, interdisciplinary professional association focused on collaborative, integrated health care. For more information about CFHA, visit http://www.cfha.net/.
