Legislative Advocacy

Each year, Mental Health America of Greater Houston determines legislative and advocacy priorities that are presented to legislators, policy makers and others concerned about issues in mental health.

The Government Affairs Committee, comprised of Mental Health America of Greater Houston’s Board of Directors, tracks legislation pertinent to these priorities and other important mental health-related issues throughout the year.

During the Texas legislative session, Mental Health America of Greater Houston develops and disseminates legislative alerts and a blog posts on these issues to a network of legislators, policy makers, advocates, professionals, consumers and others who have an interest in mental health.

Mental Health America of Greater Houston also coordinates advocacy efforts such as letter writing campaigns and rallies to support its priority issues.
